Topic: Using extermal Pres with UCX

Questions:

1. Which inputs can I use with my mic-preamps?

2. Exactly how should/can I monitor the output level of the external pre-amps to make sure I get the best DA conversion?

The pre-amps are:

1. Grace 101

2. UA 6176

Thanks

Rick

Re: Using extermal Pres with UCX

1. All of them. Just set them to the correct reference level.

2. Input metering in Totalmix or in your recording software.

Re: Using extermal Pres with UCX

Rp - If i rem right, there are certain inputs that DO BY-PASS the internal pres of the unit.

I think it's 5 6 7 & 8 on the far right rear.

Re: Using extermal Pres with UCX

Inputs 5-8 don't bypass the pres, they just don't have any. 1-4 can also be used for line signal. While there is no physical bypass, at 0 dB gain, signals are not affected by the pres.

Re: Using extermal Pres with UCX

Tank Dan - That answered my query.

Been using a Tascam DR-100 for practice and wanted to give the UCX a try.

Will see clarity of RME pres and mine. May post results.

Thanks again for your fast response.

Oh - I wanted to ask you RME folk, did you get my registration via the mail?
