Hi there,

According to Steinberg, the upcoming Cubase 7.06 (and Nuendo 6.06) updates will have the follow enhancement:

"Improved audio stability
A new "compatibility" switch is now available under Device Setup > Devices > VST. If enabled, the ASIO threads are set to Windows MMCSS mode to improve the overall audio stability."

Since the recent HDSP drivers also have an MMCSS switch, I am wondering what is the most appropriate way to handle this system optimization. Should it be turned on only in Cubase, only in the HDSP driver, or both?

You will have to try that. Nobody knows the right setting exactly as it seems to be system depending.
