Topic: Multiface I HDSP PCIe to PCI converter?

Hey,
i have the Multiface I with the HDSP pci interface,
i bought a new computer, but new boards (intel X-99 chipset) don't have PCI interface. only PCIe.

have someone tried to buy a PCIe to PCI converter and connecting the HDSP PCI to it?

can i expect it to work?

Thanks

Look for Xeon and different CPU sockets ..

In case of 2011-3 if you prefer quad channel DRAM ...
Xeon and ECC memory .. perhaps nice with an E5-1650v4 ?!
Check whether BIOS supports the v4 Xeons .. otherwise take v3.

There is also another board available, but over €500 ...

I'm kinda lost about in the comments, The first one you can't read without a translate and second one is advise on getting a new computer, Something is off.

Tell me if this is wrong, but your asking if you were to hook up a RME PCI (legacy) sound interface to a PCI to PCIe converter would you see any issues, i can't give you advice on it but i'll look around for the answer for you.

This one should work, assuming that they didn't change the chipset. But you have to find a place to put it (likely external), or put it at the bottom of your case and use an extender cable.

They also sell this in an external case that fits a 5 1/4 drive slot. I only tried the above one myself, though.

The Startech riser card is Pericom chipset based, too, just like the one Sintech one I am using here. It's not the cheapest, but when I tested a more inexpensive chinese based riser cars (Asmedia chipset) it didn't work at all. So it seems like money well spend. For bigger PCI cards you need to get a PCI (riser) extension cable to fit the PCI card into another bracket slot.

Re: Multiface I HDSP PCIe to PCI converter?

Hi all,

There is a new ASRock motherboard (new to me anyway) that has a PCI slot.  The board is the ASRock Motherboard Z270 PRO4.    It's not an adapter, but a regular PCI slot.

http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z270%20Pro4/index.asp

2 PCIe 3.0 x16, 3 PCIe 3.0 x1, 1 PCI, 1 M.2 Socket (Key E)

I don't work for ASRock or anything like that -- I'm a composer.  The board is not weird -- not a server board or otherwise odd for music.  It can take up to 64GB of RAM and has USB 3.0 and all that.

Kind regards,

John
