Topic: Which of UFX+ or UFX II should I choose?

Hi there,
I am considering purchasing UFX+ or UFX II.
Can I ask you to advice to me?

I do not plan to use MADI, I am planning to connect with USB2.
In that case, is there any significance for me to buy more expensive UFX + than UFX II?
Should I purchase UFX II?

Do you plan or can you exclude to expand the setup in the future with ie Octamic XTC using Madi ? If it might be possible then MADI has advantages.

No cable length limitation and reduction of channels that much like with ADAT.
MADI fiber cabling up to 2km.
This allows you to keep UFX+ on thr control room and to place one or more preamps like XTC into different rooms without being limited by cable length. And fiber cable is thin ...
Madi has 64 channels compared to 8 with ADAT@44.1.
It also saves you Midi cabling as you can remote control other RME devices which are capable of Madi using Midi over Madi.

Another advantage might be to be able to connect to an Apple or PC with either USB or thunderbolt.

So should your mainboard have issues with USB maybe by interference with other peripheral USB devices or adapters then you would have a plan B using thunderbolt instead.

If u have the money get UFX+ to have more options.

UFX+ is USB2 compatible but then less number of channels. See handbook.

Which DAW do you use? Be aware, that Pro Tools is limited to 32 I/O via ASIO so you cannot really conveniently access the MADI interface of UFX+ with Pro Tools.
