Topic: 5 dB loss when going from +19dBu to +24 dBu with Auto Ref Level. Bug?

Hi,

when I turn up the volume knob of the ADI-2 Pro and the automatic Ref Level switches from +19 dBu to +24 dBu, there is a sudden 5 dB reduction of the level of the Main Outputs. The big decibel numbers on the screen continues to count up, but the output level jumps back. Also there is no click in this transition, like the clicks when the Auto Ref Level jumps between +4 & +13 & +19.

It seems to me like the +24 dBu mode does not work, or at least doesn't do anything else than +19 dBu. If I disable the Auto Ref Level and adjust the Ref Level manually, it also seems like +24 is not doing anything.

Am I doing something wrong?

Best regards,
M

Yes, you don't use the XLR output. At the TS output this behaviour is normal and can not be changed unless you deactivate AutoRef.

Aha! Thanks for the clarification!

I didn't realize until now how the TS and XLR outputs differ in this regard. Then I have to to use a fixed Ref Level of +19 dBu to reach the full output levels on TS without having level hickups and the level indicator showing the wrong value. Fair enough! smile
