Topic: Microphone not working on HDSP 9632

Hello,

I'm new to the RME HDSP 9632. I have installed the latest driver and firmware.
The HDSP 9632 is installed on Windows 10.
I'm trying to get my microphone to work, but I can't figure it out how to.
I've tried different things in RME totalmix, but no luck.

I've connected my mic on the breakout cable with the label "phones" on it.
If I look into the recording devices in windows I see the following:

ADAT (1+2)
ADAT (3+4)
ADAT (5+6)
ADAT (7+8)
ANALOG (1+2)
SPDIF

I can hear music being played on my computer. In totalmix it give output in ANALOG (1+2)
How can I use my microphone??

Re: Microphone not working on HDSP 9632

The HDSP 9632 has no microphone preamp build in, so you can't connect typical mics like
- dynamic mic or
- condenser Mic (which additionally requires 48V phantom power).

Which Microphone are you using ? Should you have a tube mic which comes with a preamp of its own and has line out, then you should be able to connect it to the analog input of the HDSP 9632.

BTW .. a mic needs an input port, "phones" is an output port, abbrevation for head"phones".
Microfone is written slightly different .. Microfone, maybe that brought the confusion to you.
