Topic: ARC USB unable to install driver

I just purchased an ARC USB to use with my HDSPe AIO or UCX.

I've plugged in the device as the instruction said, but it is not working.

I receive a "No driver found" error and the device shows with an exclamation ! icon in the device manager:

All lights temporarily light up and then only the first two TALKBACK and SPEAKERS lights remain dimly lit. I've tried an external USB hub, internal USB controller on the back of my machine, front USB ports - nothing seems to work.

If I try to do 'Update driver' I just get a 'Windows could not find driver software for your device' message.

I have the latest AIO/UCX drivers (4.28/1.167) and the latest TotalMix FX installed (1.60). I'm on Windows 7. I've also tried multiple USB cables (including ones which I know work) but no joy.

It seems like a driver issue. Is there a manual driver download available? Is this unit just faulty and I should return the distributor?

Re: ARC USB unable to install driver

The ARC USB uses the USB 1 driver of the Windows operating system. There is nothing to install manually. On my Windows 7 that is driver version 6.1.7601.18208 of 07/12/2013.

I doubt the ARC USB is broken. I assume this to be a screwed up Windows installation.

Re: ARC USB unable to install driver

Thanks for looking into this! This is the first device I've had trouble with on my machine - everything else I have works great. Having a look with USBDeview I can see the device is found:

Anything else I could try?

Re: ARC USB unable to install driver

Looks perfect, other than you have a newer USBAUDIO.sys driver. The ARC is still listed in Device Manager with exclamation mark? Tried reboot and/or other USB port?

Re: ARC USB unable to install driver

I had indeed tried pretty much all of my 30 something usb ports I have available and had no joy.

Luckily, I've just found a fix!

I had been googling around for generic USB MIDI devices not working, and a variety of people fixing it with regedits and such (adding ksthunk to a device Filter, etc.) when I stumbled across this:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel … -windows-7

I had to google about to find a mirror, but after installing KB2919139 and rebooting , the arc is now working perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to look into this.
