Topic: RME Fireface Totalmix reset

Hello,

I've installed over 30+ RME Fireface UC or UFX, UCX devices for my customers.

And I've found that the almost devices have got problem about totalmix resetting.

Even my customers never change totalmix's software audio routing or adjusting fader,

totalmix sometimes goes default setting.

I know that loading work-space file could be answer, but it's not essential.

Does anybody know why this happen?

Any method which loads the last-used settings automatically?

The last used settings are loaded automatically. If not then TM FX might have access right problems to those files, either reading or writing them. Details for paths are in the manual.

Re: RME Fireface Totalmix reset

Hello MC,

I know TM loads the last used settings every time I boot.

What I mean is, TM intermittently fails to load the last settings.

I don't understand why it does intermittently.

Loading work-space file or snapshot is not the essential answer for that.

Re: RME Fireface Totalmix reset

I doubt that it fails to load the last settings. Those would be still available as file and can be easily loaded manually to verify. Usually the problem is that the 'last' used settings are not saved when exiting TM FX -  which happens automatically on shutdown. Some systems have problems to shut down as expected and kill all processes or the power supply too quick (of course the same happens when you force shut-down a computer). The TM FX file then is either corrupted or not written, so that then the default or pre-previous settings are loaded.

So if you have this issue happening do a thorough research what exactly happened.

Re: RME Fireface Totalmix reset

I un-ticked "Always init DSP devices with TM FX settings" for the test.
And I found that a pop-up window shows up almost every time I try to boot:
"Mismatch detected - Channel and FX settings of device and Totalmix are different.
Click YES to use the TotalMix settings (default )
Click NO to upload the devices settings into TotalMix "
I think that this message is very related to this symptom.

My PC uses intel i7 CPU / Windows 7 pro 64 bit / 16 GB RAM / Samsung SSD.
And this is the sequence of power on :
       RME - 1 sec - PC - 1 sec - AMP circuit
this is the sequence of power off :
      AMP - 1 sec - PC shut down - 1 sec - RME

Do you think there is problem with my power sequencing?

Yes, as long as you didn't change abnything on the interface during PC shutdown, this message indicates the files are not wrtitten.

No, but you need to check the files. They might have a date/time from long ago.
