Topic: Matrix - Patching tips?

Are there any key-combinations / mousing tricks that allow for fast 1:1 crosspoint patching in the matrix? Am getting a sore mouse-click finger :-)

Re: Matrix - Patching tips?

"Crosspoint patching" ? Can you pls put an example what you mean ? Thanks.

Re: Matrix - Patching tips?

Bit of a necrobump here - but I've reset my whole system and am once again experiencing the frustration of routing in Matrix view...

Crosspoint means a route is either "on" or "off". This is terminology from broadcast routers, which historically did not offer any adjustment, since an analogue crosspoint (and even digital ones until relatively recently) simply sent source X to destination Y or Z - in the analogue realm by literally switching a crosspoint relay.

This approach is beneficial when e.g. wishing to cleanly route a source to a destination, without the additional mixer features offered by TotalMix. For example, I always route certain MADI inputs to certain MADI outputs, for sending monitoring feeds from one MADI device to another, and on to my monitor controller as AES. I don't ever want these to be level-adjusted, with good reason.

Having a user-selectable "crosspoint" mode, perhaps only in matrix view, would allow this. Setting routes in Matrix view is very prone to error, since the levels are changed with mouse scrolling. It also adds to the time it takes to route a range of sources to another range of destinations.

Routing methodology in RME's MADI Router control software (or Audinate DANTE Controller) is a good example of how this could be executed...Select blocks of 8, 16, 64 etc channels at a time to block route, or else drill down to make 1:1 routes...

Re: Matrix - Patching tips?

Use submix mode, click to HW output, raise fader of input or sw playback.
You can also copy or mirror a submix.

Reads as if both double-click on an empty field as well as single click with CTRL pressed are unknown. Also to get 0 dB crosspoints automatically perform a Total Reset first.
