Topic: [Solved] Help with UCX and new USB driver

I can't get the new driver to function.

I have been happily using my Windows 10 with a firewire card for years, but now I want to move to a USB cable.

I installed the new device driver , dated 2/25/2019 1.1.67.0  The driver install program said it was successful. I have rebooted the computer and restarted the UCX, and of course plugged in a USB cable and unplugged the firewire cable.

But my computer still is using 09.06.15  3.115 (the firewire driver)

If I unplug the firewire and hook up the UCX with a USB cable, nothing happens.  The Fireface settings and the Totalmix buttons are still there, but they do not respond. It is like the USB cable is not plugged in.

I looked in the Windows 10 device drivers under sound and video drivers but only the firewire is running.

I plugged back in the firewire cable and the system is back working properly, but only when I use firewire.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks!

Re: [Solved] Help with UCX and new USB driver

Is the UCX perhaps in class compliant mode ? Turn it off (see handbook) and retry.
The USB driver will / should load as soon as it recognizes the UCX in "non class compliant" mode.

Re: [Solved] Help with UCX and new USB driver

Thanks for the response.

It turns out the unit was turned off!

When you plug a firewire into a UCX the power switch is overridden and the UCX turns on even if the switch is off. For that reason I thought the UCX was turned on.

My UCX is buried deep inside a cabinet and I could not see the on off switch. I didn't even know there is a power switch.

When I started trying to figure out the class compliant problem, I finally figured out the switch was off on the UCX.

Things are working fine now, I have loaded all of the new drivers and firmware and I am using USB.

Thanks!
