Topic: Question about headphones output (Ucx vs ufx II)

Hello.
Could you help me please? I'm looking for a new rme interface, which can drive my high impedance headphones (Sennheiser hd 650).  UCX model specs is (30 ohms headphones out), and Ufx II specs ( 2 Ohms headphones out). As I understand Ucx (30 ohms) will drive  high impedance headphones better than Ufx II (2 ohms)? 30 Ohms vs 2 ohms?

Thank you!

Re: Question about headphones output (Ucx vs ufx II)

Ideal for phones is ADI-2 Pro FS / DAC

You can use it very nicely in conjunction with a TM FX capable recording interface

Re: Question about headphones output (Ucx vs ufx II)

I agree. But I'm looking for an audiointerface.

Re: Question about headphones output (Ucx vs ufx II)

OK,

If you can afford than get the UFX+, because UFX+/UFXII got an overhaul on many things compared to the old flagship UFX.

See this blog article where I summarized the enhancements
https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/ind … 8-RME-UFX/

And as the price of the UFX+ is currently so low, consider to get the MADI version.
Not too long ago a MADI module alone costed smth in the range of €400-600.
And now you get the UFX+ for only €182 more compared to the UFX II.

A real bargain, look at the prices:
https://www.thomann.de/de/rme_fireface_ufx_2.htm €2181
https://www.thomann.de/de/rme_fireface_ufx_ii.htm €1999

Ramses thank you very much for your advice. I appreciate it. but if return to the question, I correctly understood that old UCX(30 Ohms) will drive high impedance phones better than UFX II(2 Ohms)?

The 30 Ohms phones output won't drive your phones output better compared to the 2 Ohms output of the UFX II.

Otherwise the phones outputs from the reference DAC ADI-2 Pro FS with 0.2 ohm somehow wouldn't make sense.

The lower impendance simply makes it possible to better connect phones with lower impedance which are quite
usual these days. See also: https://sites.google.com/view/quipa/faq … -impedance

I think the UFX II / UFX+ will serve you best according to all of its features.
These are the new flagship interfaces.
And as I said, I recommend to take the UFX+ with MADI.
Only around €180 more. Initially it costed €2700.

Now I get it!  I thought that the greater the resistance at the output -> the better the high-impedance headphones will sound. Thank you sir!
