Topic: Multiset Audiolink 96 and windows 7 - 64 bit

Hi, i own an "Audiolink 96" with pci http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hds … erface.php
installed on asus p6tse and using windows xp 32 bit as os, but as i need right now to use this configuration as my first daw in one studio without a sample farm slave pc the os and the 32 bit can be a bottleneck (mostly for ram usage) so i need to upgrade to 7 ultimate 64.
I read about issues regarding installation of this pci on a 7 (64 bit) enviroment, and i should check what the rev of the card is, so my questions are:
1 - how can i check what rev is my pci without pulling off the card from my motherboard? (i am afraid of connecting and disconnecting)
2 - in case it was the first issue of the pci, i live in italy so who can mod it? and how much would it cost?
3 - is this "mod" the only solution to make it work? Is there a pcie card to buy that could work without issue with audiolink and windows7 (64) without running in all this mess?
4 - do i need to pull of the card, and insert the card in the pci slot after complete installation of windows 7, or can leave it there safe in my mobo before installing the os?
5 - any issues for installation with osx Mavericks is it 32-64bit problem related?
Thanks for your support
Roberto!

Re: Multiset Audiolink 96 and windows 7 - 64 bit

Not sure what you read, but there is no specific issue with W7/64. If you intend to install this on the same hardware, the card should work just fine. There is no need to remove the card after installation....
Which driver and firmware versions have you currently installed? The only potential issue might arise if a firmware update fails on some older cards.

Operation under OSX 10.9 is not possible with the PCI card.

Re: Multiset Audiolink 96 and windows 7 - 64 bit

I've read this topic
http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14879

I have xp (x32) i want to install windows 7 ultimate (x64) maybe in dual boot with a os x mountain lion (that is not mavericks 10.9)
I don't want to be unproductive, so i cannot loose time for having my "multiface nuendo version" aka multiset not working and not detected in windows 7 (x64).
In this post mc tells the other costumer about a modification
1) I have this card  http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hds … erface.php along audiolink96 will it work installing w7?
2) do i have to put of the card from the pc to install it after windows 7(x64) is already installed on the hd?

Re: Multiset Audiolink 96 and windows 7 - 64 bit

This is not related to the operating system.

If the hardware detection works now, it will work with W7/64, assuming that you are already running an updated driver and firmware. If both are outdated, you will need to update, and that could either fail with an old PCI card or hardware detection could be affected by the update (not likely, but possible).

See above.

2) do i have to put of the card from the pc to install it after windows 7(x64) is already installed on the hd?

I have already answered that. There is never a need to remove the card.
