Topic: Confused about microphone input

This is probably a dumb question but i'm a little stumped. I have a hdsp multiface. I'm trying to use an external microphone during video chat. When i have a mic plugged in i have no problem using it in my daw. If i'm playing music on my computer i can see the levels in total mix and i can also see the level in windows "playback" tab - see picture one. http://imgur.com/ZGPOLpw


When i have a microphone plugged in it doesn't work with the video chat, even when i select the rme as a source and i don't see any level on the windows "recording" tab. See picture 2.

What am i doing wrong?

Figured this out with Vinark's help. Had to open the Dsp settings and configure the WDM devices to switch it so Windows would see/hear the analogue inputs.
