Topic: Hdspe to headphones setup

A few years ago I sold my hdsp hammerfall for a different pc setup with external audio interface. I need to increase the latency and have been looking at a hdspe pcie card now. What is a good setup? Could I do the hdspe with a breakout cable , external da converter  pcie card , or would I need to get some external audio interface?

What are your requirements ? Amount of channel, which (analog, digital, ...)

What is your max budget, what other devices you have already which you want to connect to the interface?

This will be used for a vst heavy compositions.
I am thinking Raydat with adat connection.
Max budget 1500.
I am wondering if I go from a raydat back to a usb audio interface that would defeat the purpose correct? As the usb connection would put me back in the same place. I would like to hook a headphone amplifier if possible to drive Ultrasone 650s.

Re: Hdspe to headphones setup

A combination of RayDAT, ADI-2 Pro reference converter and ARC USB could be interesting for you
if you put some money on top which is completely worth it.
Then you have also an USB DAC and headphone amplifier with outstanding features.

Here info about my use cases for ADI-2 Pro, its more than a DAC and Headphone amp, its amazing:

If you do recordings for other people then I would suggest to think about getting UFX II with Durec to have i.e. the possibility to record on USB stick in parallel or even standalone.

With RME the difference between PCIe and USB is not that high, look here in the excel how close to each other the reported driver latency is ..
