Topic: Fireface 800 : FW to Thunderbolt

Thinking of a new Mac - However they all come with Thunderbolt  no more Firewire slots (since quite a while I know...)

However, how can I expect my Fireface 800 to behave if connecting through an adaptor (FW to Thunderbolt) ? Any issues ?

Works fine, just like a standard internal FW port.

I'm having trouble getting Firewire to Thunderbolt 3, do you have any suggestions for that?

You will need 2 adapters in series, TB3 male -> TB2 female, and TB2 male -> FW800 female.

hi all
ive just got a new macbook pro 2016-7 (sierra). Any ideas on how to connect my RME FIREFACE 800 to my mac's thunderbolt port? Previous posts do not confirm a workable solution with TB3 to TB2 To FW800 chain of adapters. Has anyone really tried it? Has anyone tried the OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock station that provides a FW 800 port? Does it work?
Also, will I need new drivers for the card?
