Topic: Record from stereo source using RME Fireface UFX II

Hi, I'm interested in the Fireface UFX II interface. Is there an easy way to record from a stereo source (phono preamp)? Is it possible to set the input gain of both channels (L/R) with a single knob? Regards, Elo

Can you please share the workflow? Thx!

Usually, there is not need to add gain to a signal from a preamp. Just set the input sensitivity accordingly (-10 dBV) and record....

I see, at least with 24 bit I will get all information out of vinyl without individual gain adjustments. Is this correct?

Re: Record from stereo source using RME Fireface UFX II

Yes 24 bit is about 12 bits more then vinyl needs ;-)

And you could of course set the gain manually and then  (not)worry if both channels are equal but...There is no way to check if your needle, cartridge and preamp is 100% accurately balanced.
It is very strange that that going from a very inaccurate, but in some respects beautiful, medium like vinyl, people can then get very eh precise (read neurotic, no I don't mean the OP but in general) when recording it.
Just balance by ear!
