Topic: Understanding delay compensation

Just trying to get my head round automatic delay compensation on XTC's and Micstasies.  Does the cumulative delay get factored into the sample size of the DAW?

And when the artist is monitoring on headphones via TotalMix in a long MADI chain, is the delay not audible?

Re: Understanding delay compensation

RME devices like Octamic XTC compensate automatically by using configuration option "Auto-CA".

Re: Understanding delay compensation

The way I understand the manual, you have to add 21 samples on each unit when DelayCompensation is activated.
If not, 3 samples for first unit, 6 for the next and so on.
So I think it depends on the artist if he can hear (or feel) the difference between 3 or 21 samples plus the samples from TM.
As long as you don't mix xy stereo overheads on different units, I think it doesn't matter.
