Topic: Pro Tools input availability

I know it's been discussed before that not all inputs/outputs are available in standard Pro Tools.

I'm doing a project (very soon!) where I need access to the MADI channels, via my UFX+, but they unfortunately are beyond the PT 30 input limit.

Here's what's strange.  As a test, I connected my Madiface USB, and it shows 64 MADI channels available!   Unfortunately I'll need the UFX+ in the control room for monitoring etc.

Is there a workaround I'm missing?

Re: Pro Tools input availability

Only as an idea ...

For the simple recording process .. use global record.
You could also use Durec and record to USB disk / stick.

Then import the Durec file if supported by pro tools or
extract the single wave files 1st using the RME Batch processor.

Alternatively, take another DAW for the recording and export of tracks, then import to protools.

Its really sad that protools is so limited and the company behind it is not acting customer friendly, as not everybody wants to invest into a fully fledged HD-solution.

Re: Pro Tools input availability

I will be doing a Durec recording, as I always do.

The session is not huge, but requires a full monitor mix for the producer and artists.  Perhaps I'll check out Studio One or Cuebase before the session.

Trust me, I won't miss Pro Tools.
