Topic: DSD compatibility issue - ADI-2 DAC & Aurender X100L

Each time I play a DSD file (64, 128) from my Aurender X100L (USB output) I get intermittent music drop outs with high frequency noise. This occurs for a couple of seconds, every 15 to 20 seconds, regardless of whether I play DSD direct or DSD Dop. Using different USB cables did not resolve the problem. Playing PCM files is fine.

All firmware is updated on both ADI-2 and X100L. Bit test confirmed correct.

I contacted Aurender who were able to check online that my X100L has no hardware issues. They suspect the problem is a general incompatibility/miscommunication (firmware issue) between the Aurender and RME ADI-2 DAC.

The Aurender Technical Support Manager has had no success getting a response from RME.

I’d appreciate some relevant technical information on how RME processes DSD files via USB so that I can pass it onto Aurender tech support. Or a reliable contact at RME tech support so that Aurender can liaise directly with them.

Thanks.

Would you mind to try if the latest firmware changes anything?

Thanks for your response.

Applying the firmware update, there’s no change to my DSD issue. I look forward to your further investigation to resolve this problem.
