Topic: Internal connection to AEB8-O failing

Hi,

Been an extremely happy user of RME PCI audio card with two AEB8-I and one AEB8-O expansion board for the past decade.

I believe after all the years the internal 2-wire cable of AEB-O is failing. When I turn on the computer the outputs only play static crackling noise.

Image of the wire I think is failing on page 4 here: http://www.rme-audio.de/old/english/dow … ebxo_e.pdf

When I take the cable off and put it back on again it sometimes fixes the problem.

Where can I find a replacement wire? Should I spray the connectors with something to try clean them?

Thank you!

Which revision of the AEB8-O is that? Printed on the PCB. There exist 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2.

Hi Matthias,

It is 1.2.

Re: Internal connection to AEB8-O failing

I have no such failures in my data base. Instead of spraying onto the PCB's contacts I would spray on a cotton tip and clean the contacts with the wet tip. Even better just use clean alcohol for cleaning. Then plug the cable at least 20 times to rub dirt from the cable's unacccessible contacts.
