Topic: RME Baby Face (Blue) - Breakout cable faulty? - Help needed!

Hi all,

I bought my RME babyface two years ago and have had no issues whatsoever until now. Suddenly the sound is only coming out of one side (Line out L). The line out R on the breakout cable appears to be faulty, well that's my first impression.

My set up is as follows: RME - Breakout cable - to speakers via XLR cable.

I've trued the following:

1. Contacted RME. Unfortunately (and stupidly) I did not register the babyface within the 30 day period which means it does not come under the 5 year gaurantee    - gutted.

2. Swapped the working Line in cable from the working speaker to the faulty other faulty line in, nothing is heard apart from a small crackle initially then nothing.

3. Total mix looks to be good, no hidden panning (would attached a pic but I can't figure out how to do it on this forum)

4. The Babyface LED on the unit shows that two channels are being played.

Must be the breakout cable, right??!

Cheers, Mark

JRT, many thanks for the reply but from this link - https://www.rme-shop.com/acatalog/Babyf … -3497.html

Which breakout cable should I buy as there is a main option and what looks like an identical cable as well? The one at $40 should do?

Cheers!

I would suggest using your multimeter to test continuity on your breakout cable assy before buying a replacement. If you don't already have one or several multimeters, then start with an inexpensive handheld, sub-$20, as that is adequate for this sort of diagostic test.
