Topic: UFX ll questions

Just wondering if anyone would know why at the startup on the TotalMix Fx I get a pop-up window saying:

---
- Changes detected - Channel and FX settings of Device and TotalMix are different.

Click Yes to use TotalMix settings (default)
Click No to upload the Device's settings Into TotalMix
---

Whichever I press the window pops up again next time when I turn on the unit.

Any idea, thanks.

TM FX: F2 (Preferences) set there under "Device Handling")
(X) Always init DSP devices with TM FX settings

Re: UFX ll questions

It worked, thank you.

Apart from > Window 100% - 135% - 200% options in TM Fx, any chance a user can select for the whole TM Fx window to occupy the whole PC screen?

With 100% - 135% - 200% options only 70% of the screen shows the TM Fx.

I have wiggled with my PC settings, but couldn'm make it work.

Re: UFX ll questions

AFAIR from reading this forum .. The way the software is written - with the goal to minimize CPU load - it doesn't allow dynamic resizing of window and its content. Graphs / Graphics is kind of statically programmed.

I don't know whether RME intends to change this in the future.

Re: UFX ll questions

Not just CPU, dynamic resizing is not good for accurate metering.

Re: UFX ll questions

I have a stereo compressor now in my setup and wanted to discuss the connection with the UFXll.

I put a mic in front of my amp, the mic goes to input 9 (mic/line) on the FF.

From the XLR outs (1&2) of the FF I've connected cables to ins of my compressor.

From the compressor's outs I've connected cables to FF ins 7 & 8.

Is this a proper way to do it in order to have the mic signal going to FF, then out to compressor, and back to inputs 7 & 8, so the 'returned' compressed sound can be sent to DAW and recorded?

Thanks.

Re: UFX ll questions

Maybe the UFX ll is not designed to be used with a compressor .. ;-))

Would anyone know how to get in touch with the rme technical support ..?

Re: UFX ll questions

This should work just fine. You can define send/return channels in your DAW.

Thank you for that Daniel.

I have recorded a simple bass drum pattern into my DAW (Cubase), then I have connected the outputs 1 & 2 from the FF to the inputs of the pre-amp, then to compressor, and out of compressor back to audio inputs
on the FF.

I'm experiencing some noise that comes with the bass drum as in the recording below.

Obviously I am doing something wrong??!

Re: UFX ll questions

Please test the same recording without the compressor in the signal path, just out to in directly... Does this work?

Re: UFX ll questions

Thanks, now I went without compressor.
From FF outs to 1073 line ins > back to FF, this is what the bass drum sounds like.

Re: UFX ll questions

I have no other option but to believe that my unit is faulty.

Could someone provide the rme technical support contact so I can take it from there.

Thank you.
