RME User Forum → ADI-2 & 2/4 Pro series, ADI-2 DAC series → having issue with stereo/mono
hi rme.
i can't seem to get the adi-2 pro out of mono when running usb from my mac mini in headphones and main outs. stereo works on the analog stage and it was playing stereo fine when i connected it to my ipad.
when i go to audio midi setup and "configure speakers" it is still mono when i click left or right speaker.
any ideas?

ok well since there haven't been any responses yet....
on the adi-2 pro menu, width is set at 1, balance is centered and mono is off, so i'm not sure what the problem is.
any advice would be helpful

To make sure there is no setting wrong in the ADI you could reset it. Hold encoder 1 and VOL key pressed while turning the unit on with the Standby button.
But if the ADI still plays stereo via your iPad then you DO have some problem on your Mac's configuration, as the ADI sees the same host and doesn't change settings between them.

yes it was the mac. it wasn't in audio midi setup
it was here
System Preferences > Accessibility > Audio
Uncheck the box next to "Play stereo as mono".
back to it now.
Begs the question who activated that setting...
