Topic: Rme Madiface XT x Analog Hardware

Hello!!

Been away from the forum for almost 2 years but now im back with some questions. smile
Im on the verge to purchase a Rme Madiface XT and my question is how many compressors, eqs, preamps, etc can I connect to the madiface XT via Madi with for ex 2 Ferrofish A32 AD/DA?
I kinda wanna use my Madiface XT as a patchbay, and print my mixes.

U guys think will work this way?

Kind Regards

Delcio

Re: Rme Madiface XT x Analog Hardware

The XT supports 3 MADI buses (2 optical, 1 coaxial).
MADI supports up to 64 channels per bus @44.1/48 and by multiplexing of channels also higher sample rates up to 192 kHz.

So the 2 Ferros you can either connect  to
- one MADI bus and operate them @44.1/48.
- two MADI buses (one per bus) and operate them @88.2/96 kHz

Then you have still the 3rd MADI bus free to connect other devices via coaxial MADI.

Maximum would be 6 (!) Ferros @44.1/48 or 3 Ferros @88.2/96kHz as the Ferrow also supports MADI coaxial.

And if you want to have a reference class AD/DA converter for your monitors and phones,
then you could additionally connect an ADI-2 Pro FS via AES port of the XT.
