Topic: 9632 vs AIO

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is any sound quality difference between these two cards. I think they both have different audio chips, so would you say one has better SQ over the other? I had the 9632 and really loved the sound quality, however it broke and I now have the option to opt for one or the other, so wondering if the sound will be the same if I went with AIO or better? Any other benefits of one card over the other other than pci vs pcie?

Thanks

Re: 9632 vs AIO

PCIe is a big advantage if you ever need a new computer.
Are you sure it broke/ I thought mine did too, but some rigorous cleaning with an eraser gum of the PCI contacts brought it back to life.
AFAIK they sound the same, that is neutral as all RME gear.

Well yes, and no. AIO has a different set of opamps in the I/O stages compared to the rather spartan ultra cheap ones in the plain HDSP model.

But here's the catch: the old model has lower THD around 0.00038 % while the newer model is around 0.00063 %. (RMAA measurement of the AD/DA loop)

Whether this means anything to the sound is up to the listener of course.
