Topic: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

Hello,

since 2 Days I have the above mentioned Problem when I want to open up Totalmix ond my MBP with OSX 10.12.6.

Here is the message popup
https://ibb.co/XLwmKHr

TotalFx doens't pop up automatically when I plug the device in as usual.
The error comes uo, If I want to open a workspace file.. The usually mixer-window is not visible and the collect all windows option shows no screen at all.

Thank you and best

p.s. I tried both "CC" and "PC" mode

Only PC mode will work. What happened to the Settings dialog?

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

Thank you for the reply.

Usually when I connected the babyface the TotalMix window opened. But currently I have to start totalmix by myself and than it is just visible as small incon in the docks (marked with the dot underneath as running). But nothing else happens.

What happened to the Settings dialog?

Don't know. Nothing appears. How can I open the settings by myself? How is this .app called in order to start it?

Due to the error-message I guess that total-mix wants to load some kind of corrupted Workspace-file. I have tried to reinstall the Software but with the same results. Is totalmix putting  workspace-files (defaults, last sessions) to some special place?

Maybe there is a properties file which can be deleted in order to restore defaults?

Is there a factory reset for the device anymway?

p.s.
My options-menu shows no option which is selectable. Alle other submenus behave alike.

p.p.s.
The device is plugged in an 'pc' mode is selected

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

If I open the context-menu of the totalmix-icon in the dock and I select one of the recent workspaces/presets the error messages appears (but no mixer view and no selectable 'setting' option neither)

Here another screenshot:
https://ibb.co/QvrKRZT

If I select "show all windows" (alle Fenster anzeigen) no window is displayed
If i select the error-popup  with 'Workspace File contains no data for connected Device' than the program's menu appears on the top of the screen and I am able to access the menu of totalmix but all options are greyed out. F.i. I cannot use "reset mix" which I would have had tried else :-(

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

So your system basically behaves like the BF Pro is not recognized, and the driver for it is no longer loaded.

Is the BF still visible in the Audio MIDI Setup? And can play audio? In that case it IS in CC mode. If it is not visible there try a different USB port, USB cable and lastly a different computer. It might just be defective.

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

When I switch to CC-Mode I can see the Babyface Pro listed. When I switch to PC-Mode the Babyface disappears.

After changing a few cables and ports on the MBP the Fireface-USB-Settings opened:
https://ibb.co/ZNKxmNT

The 'firmware-field looks strange with v0..

As I asked you above, is there a way of factory-reset on the Hardware?

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

Now I still get the weired workspace error but I can select 'new total mix window' but then there is no device to select:

I'm really stuck in the midst of a recordiung session and some gigs are upcoming. A total hardware reset for instance would be nice- Looking forward for any help!

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

Install driver 3.14, then try to flash firmware 101 (again). If it then still shows v0 then the BF Pro seems to be broken.

Re: Babyface Pro Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

try to flash firmware 101 (again)

The firmware was reported to be current so I couldn't repeat updating it.

Install driver 3.14

That worked!

What I've done was:
1 - updating OSX to 10.13.6
2 - updating/installing driver 3.14
3 - Go to "systemeinstellungen" (don't know in english maybe system-settings)
4 - Go to "Security" and click on "allow"

Afterwards the totalmix pops up and everthing works :-)

After the last days I must say that the error-message is quite missleading:

Workspace File contains no data for connected Device

This is not really good. Firsthand I'd check on startup of totalmix (if I'd have wirtten the software) if there is a RME-Device connected at all and if not I would use a different message like " You are trying to open a Workspace file but there is no RME device connected ".
Now one thinks, that probably the Projekt-file itself is corrupted or whatnot might come in mind, e.g. another RME product is connected with different IOs ..

Happy that I got it sorted - thanks for bearing with me.

Best
