Topic: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

Hi,
I would like to convert some LP on vinly in digital format, using my Mac Pro.
I have a phono pre and a Quadmix II to equalize and amplify the analog signal for the ADI2 pro, connected via USB to the Mac.
For SW, I would try to record both in PCM and DSD format.
Any advice for a robust SW able to record in both format?
Regards,
Pino

See chapter DSD in the manual.

Thanks Matthias.
I missed the table in the manual.
A note: the AudioGate4 SW listed fully works only with products by Korg. With other ADC/DAC it has some limitations PCM and it does not record in DSD format.

I read that there is a Tascam Hi-Res Editor for free, that should support rec and play in DSD, but haven't had time to check that.

Re: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

Hi,
I use daily Tascam Hi-Res Editor, simple and very good SW, but there isn't the recording feature.
It would be nice if RME had a proprietary SW, like some brands, also only to record/play audio files with their DAC/ADC ;-)

Global Record comes to my mind. Did you check whether you can use it for this purpose ?

Re: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

Hi,
At the date, I’ve found only two SW for Mac able to record DSD from any adc/dac: VinylStudio and Sound-it! Both of course must be bought.

You mentioned Mac in the start post,  sorry I overlooked it.

Re: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

Be carefully with DSD.
When record session set to DSD you will see on the ADI screen and in the record software hum/distortion on the 25Hz and arround it up to Minus 35dB.
For my opinion DSD recordings with ADI 2 Pro is only for testing purposes.
Working fine but with this problem.
RME please add this information to manual.

After conversion 10sec recoded empty sound track DSD to PCM 32x192 for spectrum analyzer.

Re: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

This is neither hum nor distortion. It is in-audible DC and quite common in DSD recordings, especially those that have not been edited (read DSD-PCM-DSD converted. A DXD conversion for editing will remove the DC part).

Yes you right MC.
But this is not added in the User Manual for peoples far away from techical topics.
And again. Conversion in DXD is conversion to hight bitrate 32float point PCM.
Simple conversion to another format dont remove DC problem.
If user need to save his files in DSD without artifacts (Audible DC) RME must explain how to do it correctly.
This is need to be explaned in the user manual.
Recording DSD file—upload this file to ________software for “audible DC” remove—cut DC—export back to DSD file. Software and how to need to be explained.
TASCAM Hi-Res Editor or Korg audiogate dont remove “audible DC(DC offset??)”
Sonoma or Pyramix? But the cost is not acceptable.

Re: RME ADI2 Pro - DSD Recorder SW on Mac

MC please explane how to remove DC.
