Topic: Separate Volume Left and Right

Hi,
I was listening to some music today through the ADI and I wanted to turn down the volume in the right speaker so I could listen to the mono acoustic guitar in the left speaker.

I turned to the ADI but the 1 & 2 encoder knobs only adjust bass and treble.

Is there anyway I could get these knobs to control volume separately for left and right outputs?

Kind regards

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

press I/O button
turn encoder 1 till you see lineout
turn encoder 2 till you see settings
4 presses of encoder 2 till you see Mono
turn encoder 2 till you get proper setting

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

Hi Captblaze,
Thanks for the detailed directions smile

I had a go with the mono settings but it looks like all stereo info is sent to the left channel.

Iam looking to just hear one speaker without info from another.

Cheers for helping me with navigation.

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

sorry it didn't give what you require. I didn't expect the Mono function to sum the channels. silly me

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

I have turned off B/T Enable. Encoders 1 & 2 on line out no longer have a function.

Perhaps they could be addressed in a firmware update to be assigned to separate volumes for left and right channels.

Hopefully, I am not asking for too much.

Kind regards

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

If you only want to hear the left channel, you can set the balance to L100.

This can be done two ways: In the Volume menu (VOL) or in the I/O menu under settings.

Oh! Penny has dropped haha!

It's quite obvious when the simplicity of it is pointed out.

Thanks jiw

Re: Separate Volume Left and Right

Rodney,

I had to laugh because your Post identified a Prime Reason I purchased an ADI-2!!

ie:  Balance Control.  I find quite often, and for whatever reason, Recordings to be off-center.   Having that Balance feature was a definite selling point for me.

The ADI-2 has a Long Lost feature set that I so sorely missed.  Balance...Mono/Stereo, Loudness, etc...   All brilliantly implemented to benefit the user, without damaging SQ.

Next time, just switch to Mono, and your problem is solved.   You can do cool stuff like this with the RME unit.   Just wait until you explore the plethora of other features this unit has.

Happy Listening!
