You simply connect the ARC USB to the computer, the ARC USB then communicates with TotalMix FX.

This works very well. In addition, the ARC USB offers even more possibilities compared to the old ARC.

ARC USB is compatible with all RME audio interfaces supported by TotalMix FX. A few years ago (~10/2014) RME did an excellent job porting back the new TM FX for all products up to ~2001. Only very old devices like DIGI32 series, DIGI96 series, DIGI96 series, DIGI9632/9652 are not supported.

In contrast, the old ARC only supported some devices (UCX, UFX, 802, MADIface XT).

UFX II and UFX+ have a separate USB port for the ARC USB, so they can also be used in stand-alone mode.
