Topic: ADI-2 DAC: Humming noise when touching Audeze LCD X Earcups

Hi there,

I'm using my Audeze LCD X with the ADI2 DAC. A good match but what makes me thinking is that when I touch the earcups regardless on which site or if it's both or just one I hear a static humming noise. If I connect the headphones to other equiptment, for example my Oppo 205 or my LG V30 phone the humming is gone. Does the RME has a ground issue? Can someone help?

What you hear is the so called leakage current of the swiched mode power supply. Ground the ADI by connecting it to another unit that is grounded, this will remove the effect. Or simply ignore it if you can't hear it without touching the cups.

Hello, for those looking for a working solution, I perfectly solved this very issue (ADI-2 DAC FS + touching Audeze LCD-X earcups resulting in hum/buzz due to stock SMPS leakage current) as follows - I put USB isolator before the ADI-2 and replaced the stock SMPS with a 3-prong 12V medical-grade AC/DC converter (look for one with as lowest leakage current as you can find). Problem fixed! :-)

As mentioned in the other thread, an extra ground wire connected to a screw of ADI-2 is the cost effective remedy, something like this: https://www.conrad.com/p/wolfgang-warmb … et-1337382

I just purchased the LCD-X. Does this happen with the ADI-2 Pro FS R?

If you read through the thread you find that it depends on you configuration, even on your region’s mains power system.

If none of your connected devices is grounded, it might happen, and the solution doesn’t cost a fortune.
