Topic: ARC USB footswitch polarity prob.

Hi there,
In the ARC USB manual, it mentions that you can use either a normally open, or normally closed switch.
However, when using any normally open F/S, results in the Talkback function being active on release.
I have tried powering on with connected, activated...etc etc..

Have I missed something?  I would really like to be able to use my normally open (momentary foot) switches.

Regards,
Matt

Did you change the switches function between 'Enable' and 'Disable'?

Re: ARC USB footswitch polarity prob.

Hi Matthias,
Yes, tried all settings.

(with my normally open foot switch)
Toggle is the only one that switches between TB on & off,
All of the momentary options result in the Talkback ON, when releasing the foot switch, with the exception of disable, which does nothing except over ride the front panel button if depressed.
(so in the meantime I am using a rather large Roland Damper that has the option for normally closed... this works)

It all works as per normal with my older ARC and the same footswitch (I had modified the ARC some years ago with a foot switch option...plus I can add a "client" switch with a y split adapter which works great).

I'd love it tow rod properly, so I can use both the normally open f/s and the button on the panel in Push-or mode... It's got me stumped.

BTW, due to cable limitations, I have the ARC USB connected via USB to the computer (if that makes a difference??)

Re: ARC USB footswitch polarity prob.

Hi Matthias,
I have struck another problem with this and I meant to post about a little while back.
Whilst "Push off" has been a great addition, it does present one other issue.

If for example, I have my foot switch pressed for talkback and someone else presses..then releases the T/B button (set to Push-or) on the ARC USB, the talkback will turn off, even though I still "think" I have it activated with my foot.  (other settings for the T/B don't allow it to function the way it should in conjunction with the foot switch)

This gets quite confusing if I am not watching what the other person is doing on the ARC USB.

If the ARC USB footswitch input went back to having "normally open" mode, it would all work. (as it does when I plugin a Roland piano "normally closed" footswtich --- with both the Footswitch and T/B button on the ARC USB, set to "Push-or".

Cheers,
Matt  (PS, I think I confused myself writing this too)

Re: ARC USB footswitch polarity prob.

Please try the latest TotalMix FX 1.62 beta 4:

https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download/tmfx_mac_162b4.zip

It adds the ARC USB option Push-off or-on, which should work for you.
